Telugu script and orthographic characteristics

Key orthographic features, vowel matras, and subscript conjuncts (ottulu) in Telugu Word conversion.

Rounded syllables & talakattu

Telugu script (తెలుగు, Unicode U+0C00–U+0C7F) features rounded syllabic characters crowned by the talakattu checkmark stroke and combined with vowel signs (gunintalu, such as కా, కి, కీ, కు, కే, కో).

Subscript conjuncts (ottulu / vattulu)

Consonant clusters place reduced subscript forms called ottulu or vattulu beneath or beside the base consonant (for example క్ష, స్త్ర, త్ర, క్య, ప్ర). Clear page scans preserve these subscript ligatures.

Telugu numerals & prose connectors

Telugu prose and tabular records pair clause connectors like మరియు (mariyu) with traditional Telugu digits (౦, ౧, ౨, ౩, ౪, ౫, ౬, ౭, ౮, ౯) and international numbers in standard Unicode.
