Gujarati script and orthographic characteristics

Key orthographic features, vowel matras, and consonant conjuncts (jodakshar) in Gujarati Markdown conversion.

Shirorekha-free letterforms & matras

Gujarati script (ગુજરાતી, Unicode U+0A80–U+0AFF) is an abugida written without an upper horizontal connecting bar (shirorekha), pairing standalone base consonants with above-, below-, and side-attached vowel matras (કા, કિ, કી, કુ, કે, કો).

Consonant conjuncts (jodakshar)

Compound consonant clusters known as jodakshar (such as ક્ષ, જ્ઞ, ત્ર, શ્ર, પ્ર and દ્વ) merge half-forms and vertical ligatures that benefit from sharp scan edges during optical character recognition.

Gujarati numerals & financial tables

Commercial notices, revenue records, and ledgers frequently combine Gujarati digits (૦, ૧, ૨, ૩, ૪, ૫, ૬, ૭, ૮, ૯) with decimal figures, transcribed directly as Unicode Gujarati characters.

Preserved Section Hierarchy

Document titles, section headings, numbered lists, and native numerals (૦–૯) map cleanly to readable Markdown syntax (#, ##, -).

Clean Plain-Text & AI Context
